New Life

Abstracted and expressive flora

This body of work celebrates new life in all its vitality and abundance as endings open to new beginnings through life’s sacred, ordinary rhythms: night giving way to day, spring bursting forth where all was barren and bare, the birth of a child, and a life fully lived bearing the fruit of memory and wisdom.

These abstracted works draw on forms resonant of blooms, stems, and leaves, inspired by the natural world and its seasons, ever in flux yet alive with promise of renewal. Flora coming into and out of being dissolves into expressionism and becomes as much about color and gesture as image. Through expansive paint, pushed color, layered media, and texture, I seek a dynamic surface.
